In 2001, Khaled Hosseini wrote a remarkable novel called The Kite Runner, which is a story about a man named Amir who is a Sunni Muslim, who struggles to find his place. After numerous traumatic events during his childhood, Amir has to learn how to deal with the events that took place throughout his life.   Amir lives in Afghanistan most of his life, until he is moved to another country for certain reasons. Throughout Amir’s life, he struggles having a close relationship with his father because he never feels like he can make him proud no matter what he does. Amir also grew up trying to determine the exact nature of his relationship with Hassan, his Shi'a Muslim servant. As the story goes on, the reader is able to experience what growing up in Afghanistan is like, and they get to see what happens to a country that is on the verge of a war. It is a truly inspiring story that is a must read for the young reader!
